When you ask an average Nigerian youth what he or she wants, there are a couple of things that will be consistent on his or list; Mentorship, Seed Capital and loans are likely to rank highly.
The hierarchy of their needs might not be the same, even the way they express it might differ but it still doesn’t detract from the fact that most of their needs are common.
Now for all Policy Makers, Politicians, Philanthropists, here are what Nigerian youths really need for self attainment and financial freedom. This is in no particular order.
If you ever visit the social media pages of known successful Nigerian businessmen, top on the requests from Nigerian youths you are likely to see is plea for internship or some form of mentorship. Nigerian youths want to be taught how successful businesses are run. They want to learn from people who have cut their teeth in their chosen fields. b. Seed Capital
Nigerian youths are also in need of some seed capital in order to bring their ideas to fruition. Sometimes some of their ideas may not be the groundbreaking ones but there’s always that desire to ensure their ideas do not suffer stillbirth. When you visit E money’s Instagram page, the stack reality of the point I’m making will hit your face. I know, some beg for the sake of it but there are some genuine ones.

If only loans were easier to access and cheaper in Nigeria, a good number of youths would have gone far with their ideas or at least would have given their ideas the opportunity to survive or die.
Creativity is languishing, businesses are bleeding, patients are dying in hospitals, industries are folding up, businesses are struggling because of the poor state of electricity in Nigeria. Give the youths of this country electricity and watch the economy blossom.
e. Cheaper Internet Access
Tech startups and other related businesses are springing up daily in other climes because of cheaper access to internet but the reverse is the case in Nigeria. Internet access is still out of the reach of many youths who would love to access the net. the cost of acquiring data in Nigeria is not all comers affair. Even when they are able to buy data, the way it is used by most of the youths is like administering drip to a patient.
In summary, Nigerian youths need Mentorship, seed Capital, loans, constant power supply (electricity) and cheaper internet access to unleash and make the most their dreams.
