Welcome to 2015!
I want to begin this year by discussing some financial matters with you. Let me first ask you this question. Have you ever dreamt of being your own boss by opening up a business but then never did anything with that dream? Why didn’t you go ahead with the dream? Oh, you couldn’t see the dream through because of some habits? If that is the case, I have compiled some habits you need to break for you to be able to start your own business.
I will plead you don’t just read this. Take some practical steps as after reading this. And the practical steps start from now not later and I can assure you that as you take some practical steps, you are already on your path to a wonderful 2015.
Here are the habits you need to break. I’m not by any means suggesting they are as easy as they sound, however, I know for sure the reward for breaking these habits far outweighs the pains or temporary inconveniences you might suffer as you embark on this journey.
Looking for the Easy Path
If you are looking to become a business owner it takes hard work. There is no quick and easy way to become a business owner. It will take time, but do not give up because it will pay off.
Living Life with No Sacrifices
When you start planning to open your business, you have to make sacrifices. Keeping up with the latest and newest gadgets and clothing lines will just have to wait. This is a bad habit that needs to be put to the side so you can start saving for your dream business. Freedom is almost never free.
Staying in the Comfort Zone
If you are always playing it safe, it might be time to break free from this habit. In order to open a business, you will need to do things that you may have never done before. There is an old saying which says, “You’ll never discover new lands if you’re always afraid to leave the shore.”
Advice from Others, especially naysayers
Relying solely on advice from others for decisions relating to your business plan is a bad idea and a waste of time. You do not need to find validation from others, especially if they’ve never been entrepreneurs before. You’re going to make mistakes, but at least try to learn from those who’ve succeeded in their own businesses, not the negative peanut gallery who is afraid to try something new.
Expecting Instant Success
We all know that things in life do not come instantly, and this is especially true when it comes to opening a business. It will take hard work and a lot of time to get your business up and running.
Excessive Partying or leisure
Yes, everybody loves to have a great time, but excessive partying could be taking valuable time and money from your business. It’s okay to have a healthy social life, but if partying is taking over your life, it is time to focus energy on your business.
Spending like a maniac
By cutting back on your spending now, you can save and prepare for your future. Since all businesses have some unexpected expenses that arise over time, having a little extra cash on hand is a must. So overspending is a bad habit that needs to be dealt with now so your business can have a good start.
If you find yourself continuously putting things off, it is now time to break this bad habit. Teach yourself how to manage your time, and you will be productive. Create a set of little goals, and once you have completed that list, make another goal for yourself.
Self-Doubt and Fear: Don’t let them paralyze you
Excessive fear can consume your life. Self-doubt can make someone miss out on important opportunities. It’s OK to feel the fear, just don’t let it stop you. Everyone is afraid, and without taking a risk, you’ll never have access to your dream.
Over-Thinking your next move
Over-thinking and over analyzing can be a bad thing. This happens when one is afraid of making mistakes. When it comes to opening a business, you need to know that mistakes will happen, but this will only help one to learn from their mistakes.
Now that you have the spiritual amunition you need, go out there and conquer the world. Your dream is waiting for you to make the decision to grab it.
I wish you all the best in 2015
