Actress Yvonne Orji gives sprinkles of faith and pivotal insight in her latest interview with Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club.
Orji, known for her role as the crazy, sexy, cool Molly from the hit series Insecure, shared with the group her experiences with show creator Isaa Rae, her Nigerian background and dating as a 32-year-old virgin.
She is a proud virgin—At the age of 32, she is still a virgin. While attending George Washington University at the age of 17, she thought she was going to lose her virginity there. But then she got saved. And she’s not afraid to share it: “It comes out, I don’t hide it. The same way people know they’ve had a one-night stand, you can say that so I can this.”
1. She has the degrees—Orji has both a bachelor’s and master’s degree and used her public health training to go work in Liberia. But eventually she figured out that comedy and acting were what she wanted to do.
2. She is a proud Nigerian-American—If you listen through the whole interview, there is never any confusion about Orji’s heritage. We love it when she mimics her parents’ accents.
3. She was bullied—She almost let bullies get the best of her, but after speaking to her mom at 12, Orji learned to ignore the haters. She was bullied from third to eighth grade for her accent and her lips.
4. She looks like Toni Childs—Orji constantly hears that she looks like Jill Marie Jones, who plays Toni Childs in Girlfriends. They look like sisters.
