As far back as i can remember, i had always wanted to marry someone who had good command of English, handsome, and the fear of God in him. And so the day I met my husband was in the church. My neighbour was having a child dedication of which I was invited. After the church service I heard someone calling me, he said excuse me sister can you give me 2 minutes of your time? I told him in a polite way that I was in a hurry and left. I was trying to hurry up so I could go help out in serving the visitors that came to greet the parents and their new born baby. Their house was packed filled with people that some of them were just standing because there was no place to sit. My neighbour beckoned on my parents to allow them use our sitting room so the visitors could sit, which they agreed. I was still busy outside when my neighbour called me to go and serve someone food in our house that he has not eaten.
When I entered our sitting room, I was shocked to see the guy that wanted to speak with me in the church. He turned round and looked at me and said that fate has brought us together, we became friends and that was how we started. I was an undergraduate student at that time and so was he(master’s student). He had no money but had high hopes for the future,we carried on till after my school he proposed.I will never forget that day I remembered walking with him, we stood at the back of someone’s house talking. Then there was nothing like going to any special place like Mr biggs, parks because he couldn’t afford it.There was no formality like going down on his knees and bringing out a ring. He just went straight to the question and asked if I will marry him of which I smiled and told him that I will have to think and pray about it.
To cut the long story short, both families met and preparations for our wedding was on the way. But at time, he had no job, house of his own, or money to fund the wedding but I still had faith that God will see us through the wedding. There was a point during the wedding preparations that my husband was so frustrated and was contemplating to serve beans and bread for our guest. He brought the matter before his committee of friends which everyone was against it but none was prepared to help. God answered our prayers, and brought one of my husband old time friend who happened to be in town that period and decided to give a helping hand with the rice, meat and drinks. The drinks were supported with kunu and Zobo so it could go round. We had a rough start but like I said earlier on that we were hopeful that our future would be bright. It’s been 9years now after our wedding, the lord has blessed us tremendously with a good job, children, not just one car but cars, house of our own and we are currently working on a project. We thank God for his goodness because it’s been God all the way. We had no one to run to but we put our trust in Him which he never failed us.
