Vicky was still in the secondary school when she met Mr Izu, who wooed and succeeded in making her his girlfriend. He told everyone who cared to listen that he had found his missing rib. He did so many things to prove his undying love for her, and in return, Vicky surrendered to him. Everything went on smoothly. Mr Izu, who had always loved education, but was doing a menial job at the moment, got admitted into a tertiary institution, while Vicky, on the other hand, started learning how to sew.
In spite of being gorgeously handsome, obviously being toasted by beautiful campus girls, he still kept faith with his girlfriend. Not only did he help to equip her shop when she was done with the training, he also erected two rooms in Vicky’s father’s compound, when the mud house they lived in almost collapsed.
As soon as Mr Izu graduated, he quickly helped Vicky to secure admission into the university, by then, she had been introduced to to Izu’s family as his would-be wife. Having established that their love would be a “till death do us part” relationship, Vicky did not hesitate to drop her surname, and embraced Mr. Izu’s surname, which she started using as soon as she got admission, so that she wouldn’t need to go through the hassles of change of name, when they would tie the marital knots, which they had planned to do as soon as she graduated.
Everything went on smoothly, their relationship blossomed, Vicky told everyone that cared to listen that she was married, and Izu equally didn’t fail to provide her needs, but fate had a different plan. When she was in her third year in the university, Vicky started noticing that Izu was becoming distant. She asked him if she had offended him in any way, but he said no. Things continued going from bad to worse till she heard from a reliable source, that her supposed husband was in a serious relationship with another girl, a bad girl for that matter, who was ready to do everything humanly possible to have Izu to himself.
She quickly made her investigations and found out it was true. She was broken! How would she let a relationship she had nurtured for more than ten years slip off her fingers? She swung into action. She was determined to protect her territory no matter what, but she got her fingers burnt when the girl Izu was dating, who was in the same faculty with her, gathered some bad girls to beat her up for daring to plead with her to leave her man for her. Vicky was devastated, but thanks to some of her friends who helped her to go through that very difficult phase of her life, though she regretted why she had to start answering Izu’s surname, which obviously would be on her degree certificate.
Izu did not waste time to marry his new found girl. According to him, he felt complete more than all the years he spent with Vicky. They had their kids in quick succession, but unfortunately, Vicky, who got married two years after Izu got married, couldn’t get pregnant. Izu sometimes regretted ever meeting his wife and, leaving Vicky, whom he always said was God sent, because, his wife started giving him troubles, to the extent of denying him his conjugal right. He hoped to meet Vicky someday, and apologize for breaking her heart, despite how good she was to him.
