(At Countrysyde International Limited)
After Murewa was introduced to her colleagues she was shown her office and the rest of the building; she settled in her office to look into the file that contains the company’s new project. Murewa was scribbling down some ideas in her own note when somebody knocked on the door.
Murewa: yes, come in
Ife: Ms Campbell, oh you’re still here thank God, I thought you’ll have been out for lunch.
Murewa(looking vague): sorry?
Ife: oh! my bad, I was not around this morning when you resumed, so I thought we could discuss about the file on your desk over lunch, my name is Adegbite Ifeoluwa, I’m the Art Director
Murewa: it’s okay. I didn’t even know it’s time for lunch. Please can we do that after lunch? I already promised someone that ‘chat over lunch’ if yo don’t mind (smiling), Mr. Adegbite.
Ife: Oh just call me Ife, and that is okay by me. I’ll come see you in your office after lunch; see you in an hour then.
Murewa: thank you so much.
Murewa took her phone after Ifeoluwa left her office, she called Jadesola, they both agreed to meet at a nearby eatery. In few minutes she was there, she walked into the eatery and two guys sitting in the middle of the restaurant caught her attention especially the one facing her directly. He was wearing a blue and ash stripped coloured T shirt on a pair blue jeans, and a dark shade to match. Judging from his height even while sitting, Murewa concluded he wouldn’t be anything less than 6ft in height. The other guy was spotting a white shirt on a brown coloured pair of chinos trousers . She walked past them and took a seat: she sat adjacent to the guys, facing the guy on a white shirt.
Murewa (thinking aloud): hmmm… he’s cute too but I prefer the other guy.
Just across her seat, the two guys were discussing Murewa.
Femi: Gosh! Timileyin, this girl is smoking hot!
Timi: well, what can I say? She smells good too.
Femi: I didn’t know beautiful ladies like this still exist in this Ibadan o.
Timi: Femi, haha! Have you forgotten you are getting married soon?
Femi: of course I know, but Timi how about I ask for her phone on your behalf?
Timi: oh please! Femi that is not what I need now
Before Timi could finish his sentence, Femi had stood and was already walking towards Murewa
Murewa (thinking): I hope you’re not coming here, I like your friend not you.
She pretended to be chatting on her phone as Femi walked to her seat
Femi: Hello beautiful, my name is Femi Olayiwola can I sit for a minute please?
Murewa: yes, you can
Femi: ….errm; that is my best friend sitting over there, his name is Timileyin Cole. Uhmm… actually he’s the shy type but do you mind giving him your number?
Murewa(looking surprised): seriously? I didn’t know such guys still exist, but it’s okay.
Femi handed his phone to Murewa and she typed her phone number into the phone, she gave it back to him .Femi standing to leave…
Femi: oh sorry! I didn’t even ask for your name
Murewa (smiling): I’m Murewa Campbell.
Femi: thanks so much Murewa
Murewa: you are most welcome
Femi left her for his seat; Murewa also stood too, she, however walked to the counter to order her food. As Femi got back to his seat, he tapped Timileyin on his shoulder as if to say I’m back.
Timi: Femi, were you not supposed to get my permission before you talking to her?
Femi: Guy! You should be thanking me ohh, Omo yen ta lenu nau!
Timi: na u sabi, abeg let’s go joor
By the time Murewa got back to her seat ,her new friends had left.
Jadesola: Murewa darling, sorry I’m late got so many things to tidy up before my boss start screaming again.
Murewa: you are a true Nigerian, check your time, you’re 15 minutes late.
Jadesola: I thought I said I’m sorry now.
Murewa: just go and get your food and join me.
Jadesola: haha! I thought you’re paying nau, which one is go and get your food again?
Murewa: who said anything about me paying the bills here? You are the one who has been working for over 4 months now you will pay my bills.
Jadesola (giving a funny face): you are the omo baba olowo nau, sebi you were waiting for the perfect job?
She saw Murewa’s wallet on the table she grabbed it quickly, Murewa mouthed thief to her and Jadeola mouthed thanks and left. She ordered her food and then settled at the table to eat
Murewa: you won’t believe what happened here before you came
Jadesola: what happened?
Murewa: I met two guys eating here, one was looking very cute.
Jadesola(giving her a mischievous look) …..hmmm and you crushed immediately?
Murewa: Be serious jare. To cut the long story short, the other guy came over to get my number for his other friend claiming that his friend is shy. Can you imagine?
Jadesola: do we still have such shy guys?
Murewa: that’s by the way. What has been happening to you?
Jadesola: nothing much my sister.
They chatted for over 30 minutes and Jadesola promised to go see Murewa in her house by the weekend they both went back to their places of work. Murewa got back to her office 7 minutes later to continue her work.
Murewa: come in
Ife: sorry I came late
Murewa: no, you are just right in time.
Ife: I actually want us to discuss about the new project, I’m sure you’ve gone through the file?
Murewa: yes I have, let’s get started then.
After 30 minutes, the voice of Martha Munizzi filled the air with “the best is yet to come”
Ife: is that your phone? Thank God I need a break
Murewa: (reaching out to pick the phone) yes it is
She checked to see who the caller was; it was an international number. Murewa didn’t have an idea of who it could be.
Ife: excuse me please
Murewa:(waving back at Ife) Hello
Caller: hello Murewa, how are you?
Murewa: I’m fine, please who I’m I speaking with?
Caller: my name is Olaitan Coker, do you remember me?
Murewa: the name sure rings a bell but still can’t place it
Olaitan: we attended the same secondary school; your brother and I were in the same class.
Murewa: oh! That is true, how are you doing?
Olaitan: am doing just fine.
Murewa: but wait how did you get my number?
Olaitan: well let’s just say I did my homework.
They both chatted over the phone for about 15 minutes before Ife came back, she ended the call and they continued their work.
Ife: seems we have a good strategy now?
Murewa: I think so.
Ife: so can we take a break now?
Murewa (smiling): of course we can.
Ife: can you please send me that song you’re using for your ringtone?
Murewa: sure, why not? Switch on your Bluetooth.
Ife: ok madam, so how many of Martha’s song do you have?
Murewa: three I think, you can check through if you want.
He collects the phone to check through her albums
Ife: wow! All these are gospel music, so you are a church girl ehen?
Murewa (smiling): so because all songs on my phone are gospel songs?
Ife: well, judging from this, you are.
Murewa: then I agree, but it doesn’t mean I’m “SU” ooooh
Ife: what is wrong in being “SU”?
Murewa: absolutely nothing.
Ife: thanks anyway, I’m done, you can have your phone.
He hands back the phone to her.
Murewa: you are welcome.
Ife: I should go now, got some stuff to do in my office before close of work today, see you later.
As Ife left for his office, Murewa’s mind went back to Olaitan’s call “why did he call me, who gave him my number”? All these questions ran through Murewa’s mind. Since she got no answer to them she decided to give it rest till he calls her again. Then she remembered Timileyin Cole, smiling to herself “I hope he calls me soon.
