(Same morning at the Coker’s residence)
Olaitan was all dressed and ready to go out, just as he was about leaving the living room, his father caught up with him and this conversation ensued…
Prof Coker: where are you going, this one you this dressed?
Olaitan: I’m going to see Murewa.
Prof Coker: oh that’s good, so how are things between you two?
Olaitan: we are fine, but we’re taking things slowly.
Prof. Coker: why slowly?
Olaitan: I’m not sure Murewa likes me enough to marry me though
Prof.Coker: you are the man, you should take the necessary steps, it should be easy for you to convince her.
Olaitan: well, I’m trying my best.
Prof.Coker: your best is not good enough, because by now you should be about to walk her down the aisle.
Olaitan: I’ll try more sir, thank you.
Prof.Coker: You are welcome. okay you can go now, my regards to Murewa.
Olaitan: alright, bye sir.
In the car, he turned turned on the radio; and listened to a morning ride programme as he drove out of the compound.
(At Countrysyde International Limited)
Murewa and Ife were in Murewa’s office discussing about work when someone approached the door and tapped on it.
Murewa: come in please.
The door opened and it was Olaitan.
Olaitan: good morning
Murewa: wow! What a surprise, you didn’t tell me you’re coming.
Olaitan: it’s meant to be a surprise.
Ife: good morning sir
Olaitan: ah, I’m sorry good morning sir
Murewa (pointing to a chair): have your seat please.
Olaitan: thank you.
Ife stood up and excused herself reassuring Murewa he would returned later.
Olaitan: So tell me, how is work going?
Murewa: as you can see, it’s going on pretty well.
Olaitan: I’ve come to say thank you for honouring me and my dad. He sends his regards .
Murewa: Oh send my regards to him also when you get home. Eerrm, are you sure you’ve come all the way just to say thank you?
Olaitan: You don’t think it’s worth it?
Murewa: hmmm…. You tell me.
Olaitan: okay I have actually come to see you but I’ll wait till it’s lunch time.
Murewa: lunch is still 4 hours from now, are you sure you can wait?
Olaitan: actually, I also want to see a friend of mine around here I have a parcel to deliver to him, I’ll be back before lunch.
Murewa: okay then.
She stood up to see him off.
Olaitan: oh no, don’t worry. Continue with your work. I’ll be fine.
Murewa: okay, thanks for coming. See you later then.
After Olaitan left, Murewa called Ife to tell him she’s through with her visitor, he came after about three minutes to continue from where they stopped
(At the Cole’s residence)
Dr. Cole drove in from the hospital after Timi had left for work. She dashed to the bathroom for a cold bath and returned to the sitting room where she chatted with Tolani about the dinner with Murewa.
Dr.Cole: Oya Tolani gist me about the dinner with Murewa
Tolani: Mummy you missed a lot, that lady is very beautiful and above all she’s got a good heart.
Dr.Cole: hmmm…. Tola! Tola! How did you see the good heart within three to four hours ?
Tolani: mummy I’m serious. After bros told her he couldn’t see, she became angry not because he is blind but the fact that bros didn’t tell her before then that he is blind.
Dr.Cole: I told him to mention that to her before she came, at least we would have known if she still wants to be with him by now.
Tolani: she’s not angry anymore, though.
Dr. Cole: That is expected anyway.
Tolani: But mummy, that lady is pretty, kilode! Ah! You should have seen her.
Dr.Cole: Tola! You like exaggerating things.
Tolani: okay wait until you see her then.
Dr. Cole: I believe if God wants them to be together they will and if not, the right person will definitely come my son’s way.
Dr. Cole returned to her bedroom after her chat with Tolani while Tolani sat remained in the sitting room to watch her favourite soap.
(1:45pm at Murewa’s Office)
Olaitan came in fifteen minutes before lunch time, so he waited for Murewa at the reception till it was time. When she finally emerged, Olaitan drove her down to a nearby eatery. Soon enough, they settled to eat their food. They ate in silence.
(Murewa broke the silence)
Murewa: So what is it that you want to talk about?
Olaitan: honestly I have nothing in particular to say, I just wanted to see you again.
Olaitan: yes of course.
Murewa: now that you have seen me, are you okay?
Olaitan: no, I’m not
Murewa: ki lo tun de?
Olaitan(smiling): nothing, I want to be sure you are not angry with me about me talking to your dad about you.
Murewa: that’s in the past now, I’m not angry anymore. I know all the arrangement between my dad and your dad but what I don’t understand is why you let your dad force you into something you don’t want?
Olaitan: that’s a long story
Murewa: make it short then
Olaitan: okay, I hope you won’t be angry with me?
Murewa: Not at all
Olaitan: before I left Nigeria, I have always liked you but I couldn’t tell you. After I left for America, I was pleasantly surprised when my dad told me of the arrangement.
Murewa (taking a deep breath): I’m totally confused
Murewa: please don’t get me wrong, you’re a good man and any lady will be lucky to have you. However, as we speak, I’m in love with someone else.
Olaitan (letting out a sigh): please don’t do this to me, allow me to prove to you that I’m better than that guy.
Murewa: I know you would love to prove your love to me but like I said, I’m in love with someone already. So please, don’t let us drag this issue.
Olaitan: Just give me a chance is all I want. That’s my plea.
Murewa: Olaitan, there’s nothing I can do.
(Olaitan now holding Murewa’s hands and looking straight into her eyes)
Olaitan : Murewa, I won’t give up on you.
Murewa did not say any word again, they continued with their lunch before he drove her back to her office. Murewa had hardly settled down when Timileyin called.
Timi: Hello dear
Murewa: how are you Timi?
Timi: I’m fine, how about you?
Murewa: I’m doing great.
Timi: I’ve been worried since last night.
Timi: you didn’t call me since you left, and you haven’t given me a response regarding what I asked you.
Murewa: what is that?
Timi: haha… Murewa don’t be like this.
Murewa: seriously, I don’t understand what you are talking about.
Timi: I know it’s not easy for you to decide to be with a man like me, but I want you to know that I love you so much and I will do anything you ask me to do just to have you. Murewa please don’t turn me down. Please.
Murewa: hmmm… I like you very much but just as you’ve said, it’s a difficult decision and I have to think well before making up my mind. Please give me some time.
Timi: it’s okay, but when should I expect you again? I have missed you so much.
Murewa: I miss you too. I will try to make it on Saturday.
Timi: thank you so much. Have a nice day dear.
Murewa could take her mind off Olaitan after the call. However, the thought of what her father would do if she decides to be with Timi continued to disturb her. She called Ife…
Murewa: Ife please can you cover for me? I’ll be out of my office for about an hour
Ife: No problem, just don’t stay long.
She left her office and drove down to Jadesola’s office, as she got down from her car she saw Femi getting down from his car too. The two got into a conversation.
Femi: How are you doing?
Murewa: I’m fine ooo.
Femi: I can see that.
Murewa: what are you doing here?
Femi: this is my office.
Femi: what about you?
Murewa: I came to see a friend here.
Femi: what’s his name?
Murewa: my friend is a ‘she’.
Femi (smiling): oh! Forgive me then, what’s her name?
Murewa: Ajayi Jadesola
Femi: that’s the CSM.
Murewa: customer service manager right?
Femi: yes, let me take you to her desk
They both walked into the building, as Jadesola saw Murewa and her boss she was surprised, she stood to greet him.
Jadesola: welcome sir.
Femi: Thank you. Eerrm, Murewa please try to see me before you leave.
Murewa: okay I will.
(He walked into his office).
Jadesola: you know my boss?
Murewa: you mean Femi Anyikaye is your boss?
Jadesola: yes, his father is the owner of this company.
Murewa: what a small world! That’s Timi’s friend I told you about.
Jadesola: hmmm… It is well, that aside why are you here?
Murewa: my head is about to burst now, can I see you outside?
Jadesola: why not?
They went outside the building and sat in Murewa’s car to discuss. Murewa explained all her worries to her.
Murewa: Now I’m totally confused, but I’m not confused about my love for Timi. I seem not to be able to tell him that.
Jadesola: Then why are you confused?
Murewa: Olaitan seems to be a good guy too
Jadesola: hmmm….all I will tell you is to follow your heart, whoever you decide to be with between the two must be your choice. Right now, it’s seems both of them are ready and serious about marriage. My dear, you know marriage is a serious commitment, so please be wise.
Murewa: I know.
Jadesola: we’ll talk more about it later, I’ve got so many things to sort out on my desk.
Murewa: okay go continue with your work, let me go and see Femi upstairs.
Jadesola: that’s true, this sounds so good. Maybe now that he knows you are my friend, he will be easy on me going forward.
Murewa (laughing): I’m sorry for you.
They walked back to the office and Murewa went upstairs to see Femi.
